The real reason for Memorial Day

How do I express how lucky that I am to have my parents, and all of my grand parents still on this earth, I mean that is really amazing. This is something that I have taken for granted most of my life. I just a have not had to deal with the loss of a family member. So first off, I love you Mom and Dad!

I guess I am getting more sensitive to this as I am getting older, heck I don't know, it's just something that I think about more often, especially after going to visit Boyd on Christmas day ( then calling the Reber house and getting everyone all emotional after words) :)

This year I was able to take some time with Bonnie and her family cleaning up a few things at the cemetery where her dad is buried. Taking a few hours to just brighten up the head stone and replace the flowers just really makes me understand how lucky that I am .

I have learned over the years that this is a very special place for the whole family but Bonnie, Sherry and Shalon, I would say that it is something way more. It is not just a special place, it is a safe place to go and just listen to your hart, it is a calm place to go and put things into prospective, and it is a great place to go get some good advice from Boyd. I never got a chance to meet Boyd but I have a good idea who what kind of person he was by the unbelievable family that he raised.

I just want to say thanks to the Boyd Adams family for letting me be a part of something special.

I hope that I will always remember to cherish those people that are here today because we just don't know what tomorrow will bring.

The Cabin Natzi

It was the first weekend that we have had a minute to get up to Cedar Mt this spring and there was lots of chores to do.

Bonnie is known for being the cabin clean-up Natzi, (but it makes the rest of the year nice to have it all done)

Mark, Jon and me trying to move the trailer to load more pine needles!

WOW, a few hours of hard wok sure makes the place look nice. I think that Boyd would be proud of us.

A little rest for the worker bees.

Apples to Apples is one of the cabin favorte games to play...

We was able to sneak in a short wheeler ride before we came home, Mark (AKA the Germans, bike was dang funny to watch him ride!

Reggi Graduation

Well the day has come; Reggi is a Cedar High School Graduate! I know that Reggi is ready to get moving on with her life and excited to be going to the University of Utah next year for College, I not sure that Bonnie is as ready to let her little gymnast go and take on the world by herself yet. :)

Bonnie had a fun family party Friday afternoon before the graduation ceremony at Grandma Jane's, the whole family was there to wish Reggi good luck (well and the food was awesome too)

The weather was nice, sitting on the back porch and visiting with everyone was great...

The Cedar High School girls was looking sharp!

This was neat to see the next genaration of young people ready to take on the world. Do you remember your graduation?

Reggi receiving her diploma.

I like the shoes ;)

It is crazy to think that this is the last time that some of these kids will see each other :/

But for now they are just happy to get it over with....

One very proud mom!
Congratulations Reggi you did a great job and I wish you the best, I love you very much!

You to Bonnie you did a great job!

No hot water?

I am feeling pretty lucky today, I had noticed Monday morning that the hot water was not so hot in the shower, I asked Aleesha if she had used it up in the shower but she said that she had not. Not thinking much about it....Until I came home and could smell the smoke!
I am glad that it was not worse then this, the thermostat had burned out and shorted out the wires that ran both of the heating elements and the main power leads from the breaker, I can't believe that it didn't burn down the house.
With a little help from my good friend Mike Hall we had it rebuild and re-wired and working last night.
One thing about life that is for sure in our house is "shit happens" :)

The 80's are back

The 80’s called and was looking for some people that escaped!

Bonnie's good friend Cathe, (Carly's mom, Reggis room mate for college) had a party Saturday night for Carly's 18th birthday after the softball tourney and to kick off the summer. As you can see it was 80’s night at the Cook home.

It was great fun to dress up and do the funky chicken on the dance floor. (I didn't know anyone so I was not embarrassed)

I love tube socks!

Jon and Sherry was looking pretty cool in their outfits.

If you saw these girls coming at you would what would you do? Run to them or away!

WOW! that is some blue eye shadow....I am sure that we caused some of the ozone to disappear with all of the hair spray that was used to get ready.

The Disco ball was the best on the dance floor...shake a leg girls!

Jon was the dance contest winner with is patented cross from Bruce Springsteen and Kevin Bacon in Footloose knee dropping swing! what do you think?

Go Jon Go!

State softball playoffs

Spanish Fork Utah, on Friday and Saturday was buzzing with the final rounds of the 3A playoffs, Cedar had won their region and went in with high hopes of bettering there last year 2ed place finish at state.

They was able to send Hurricane packing home (that made Reggi and Bonnie happy) but lost the second game that day :(

Friday Morning they played Grantsville, a strong team, the Lady Reds put up a good fight but just couldn't get the girls around the bases and lost the last game.

It was a tear filled moment when Reggi was up to bat for the last time, Bonnie was struggling just as hard as Reggi to keep the tears back, they knew that this was the end...High School sports was now going to be over and Reggi was going to be off to College soon and it was hitting home with everyone.

She didn't give up at the plate, with a nice line drive hit to the short stop, but there defence was tight and got her at first base.

Great Job Reggi! You left it out on the field..;) I love you...

The high light was Reggi receiving her award for the Academic All State team, this is something that will get her a lot farther in life then wining the State playoffs...

The family was all gathered around to congratulate her. I like Bonnie's acid wash jeans in this picture.. don't you;)

Seating for the State

Saturday was a great day for Reggi and the rest of the Cedar High School softball team. The first round of the State playoffs started and they took down the 4th place team Logan fast, it was a blow out, they got em by 15 runs in the 3ed inning! Dang good job Reggi.

Bonnie was running the music and helping with the score board, so Shalon was checking out the game form in side the score box, (preferred seating)

Reggi was keeping the team up on the batter count and the outs for the inning...

We celebrated with lots of Mexican food and playing some games at Bonnies...Good times!

Shaon is such a ham!

RBC (Redneck Bass Club)

Sunday was just to nice of day and I was heeling up pretty well so we couldn't pass up a chance to test out the fishing at Sandhollow, the weather was a little windy but it was still warm, the fishin was great but the catchin wasn't as good, we did get a few and I pulled in one at the end that weighed 2 lbs.

When I took my dad Bass fishing a few years ago I had no idea what I was going to start, he loves it!
Bonnie was loving the sun, this was a good way to start off the summer...

This was the lake lunker for the day...

Shop...

It was a busy Saturday at the shop, Doug needed a new ring and pinion set in his Gen 2, 1972 Camaro, we had it installed in record time! Jim came by for support in his Gen 3, 1986 Camaro, so there was a lot of yellow in the shop that day...
